Beyond your farm lies the Valley, a wide, half-forgotten landscape waiting to be restored. It has two faces. The first is a chain of big Valley buildings (the Lake, the Mine and others) that you bring back to life by delivering materials. The second is the Town, a small village with a market, a well, a travelling merchant and a charcoal hut, which opens much earlier and runs on its own simple rules. This guide covers both, and the farm companion who lives on your land.

The Valley

The Valley tab is visible from the start as a preview of what is coming. Restoration begins at Level 30, and the buildings must be restored in order, like stepping stones: each one needs the previous one to be finished.

Building Level Needs first What it gives you
The Lake 30 none Fishing, and the Bait Shack and Fisher’s Kitchen
The Mine 40 The Lake Mine runs, ores and the Exchange
The Refinery no level The Mine Smelts ore into ingots and cuts gems
The Blacksmith 52 The Refinery Forges explorer gear
The Airport 70 The Blacksmith Flights that return rare materials
The Spire 80 The Airport A seasonal tower you climb floor by floor

A seventh building, the Ruins, is still silent. The Refinery has no requirements of its own and simply opens as soon as the Mine is restored.

Each building has its own guide: Lake & Fishing, Mine & Blacksmith and Expeditions. The Airport is described in the Trading & Orders guide.

How contributions work

To restore a building, you hand in materials from several categories. Each category has a progress bar, and the building is finished when every bar is full. The bars need these amounts:

Building Contributions needed
The Lake Construction Materials 80, Crafted Goods 60, Animal Goods 40
The Mine Raw Stone & Ore 150, Construction Materials 100, Crafted Goods 80
The Blacksmith Refined Materials 200, Raw Ore 180, Construction Materials 150, Crafted Goods 120, Raw Stone & Ore 100
The Airport Refined Materials 250, Raw Ore 200, Construction Materials 160, Crafted Goods 150, Raw Stone & Ore 150, Animal Goods 120
The Spire Refined Materials 400, Raw Ore 350, Raw Stone & Ore 300, Construction Materials 300, Crafted Goods 300, Animal Goods 250

Each item you hand in is worth some points, and harder or rarer items count for more: Honey counts for more than an Egg, and Cheese for more than Bread. The points per item are shown on the contribution screen, where you can use -5, +5 and Max buttons, and the game suggests items you already own.

Category Typical contents
Construction Materials Wood, Resin, Clay, Bamboo Fiber, Refined Resin, Stone Slab
Crafted Goods Flour, Bread, Butter, Cheese, Sugar, Strawberry Jam, Yogurt, Smoked Pork
Animal Goods Egg, Milk, Pork, Wool, Goat Milk, Honey, Silk Thread, Fish
Raw Stone & Ore Coal, Stone, Iron Ore, Silica, Clay, Quartz Shard, Glowing Ore
Raw Ore Copper, Iron, Silver, Gold, Titanium and Platinum Ore
Refined Materials Steel Bar, Gears, Iron Fittings, Glass Panel, Copper and Iron Ingots

On the contribution screen the same bars carry worksite names: Support Structures, Worksite Supplies, Crew Provisions, Foundation Materials, Smelter Stock and Reinforced Parts. In the late game many endgame crafts also count as Crafted Goods and Refined Materials.

Tip: Start collecting long before you reach the level. Keep a few stacks of wood, resin, eggs and bread aside around Level 25, and the Lake can open the moment you reach Level 30.

Valley Storage

Fish, ores, gems, ingots, traps and bait do not go into your barn. They live in Valley Storage, a separate pool with its own capacity. Level rewards add to it every ten levels from Level 50.

The Town

The Town opens at Level 8, long before the Valley buildings. You enter it from the Valley tab, and its progress lives on the server, so the game asks you to sign in to your account the first time. It is a gentle place: no currency of its own, no upgrades to pay for, just a handful of Places that open as you play. Its day resets at midnight UTC.

Popularity: how the Town opens up

The Town has no level. Instead, one number called Popularity decides which Places are open. It counts the deliveries you make in the core game from the moment you first open the Town: orders, visitor requests, boats and trucks. Boats and trucks count for much more than orders and visitors. Popularity never goes down, and it is never earned inside the Town itself.

Place Opens What it is
Market Stall Level 8 A serving game
General Store Level 11 Rotating offers
Wishing Well Popularity 75 Toss in surplus, get something better
Traveling Merchant (Merrin) Level 21 Daily orders and a chest
Exchange After the Mine Trade goods with valley traders
Key Maker Popularity 300 Tokens into keys, keys into chests
Museum Popularity 700 Donate one of every item
Charcoal Hut Popularity 1,200 and Level 52 Burn wood into coal

The Town page shows how far away the next Place is.

Market Stall

The Market Stall is the Town’s little minigame. Customers line up and ask for goods, and you tap the right one before they lose patience. A round lasts about half a minute. Quick, correct serves build a combo, and your score lands in one of three tiers: a consolation prize, a great round or a perfect round, which can also pay a barn material or a 2-hour booster. You get 3 free rounds a day, and a few more for gems. The stall never touches your inventory; it is just a game, and its XP is the same at Level 8 as at Level 40.

General Store

The General Store shows a rotating set of offers, refreshed every six hours. It opens at Level 11.

Wishing Well

The Well is a cozy way to turn surplus into something better. Toss in a stack of crops, animal goods, crafted goods or mine goods, and it always gives back an item of the same kind and the same or better quality, a bit less in total value than you put in. Valuable tosses can also bring a barn material. You get 3 free tosses a day (one more for Harvest Club members, another once you have tossed 350 times), and you can buy extra tosses with gems.

  • Wishes. Set a wish for a specific item and amount. Every toss also pours a little of its value into a wish barometer, and when it holds the item’s worth, the wish comes true. Gems can finish a wish from three-quarters full, except for barn materials. Mine goods can be wished for once the Mine is restored.
  • Trinkets. Now and then the Well brings up a keepsake. There are 18 of them in three albums of six: Lost Toys, Old Town and Bottled Letters. A full album gives a decoration for your farm, all three give the title Well Wisher, and Granny Wren swaps three spare trinkets for one you are missing.
  • The Town Wish. Everyone’s tosses add up toward a weekly goal with three tiers. Players who tossed at least three times that week share in the rewards.
  • Progress. The more you toss in total, the more fits in one toss and the bigger a wish can be. At 200 tosses the Well grows moss, at 1,000 it turns golden and you earn Keeper of Wishes.

The Traveling Merchant, Merrin

At Level 21, Merrin sets up her wagon in the Town. Every day she asks for three big orders of goods your farm makes, never gathered materials, and when they are done she opens her chest. She also accepts one gift a day. Each day she has a taste, such as something sweet or something warm, and she only hints at it. A gift that fits is loved and counts for the most, any other crafted item is liked and raw goods are fine too.

Orders, her chest and gifts earn hearts, from 1 to 10. Hearts never fade. The first come in days and the last one takes months.

Hearts Reward
2, 5, 8 Each opens a slot where you can tell her to skip a crafting station (changeable once a week)
3 Merrin’s Wagon, a decoration for your farm
6 Caravan Frame, an avatar border
10 The title Merrin’s Favorite

Every heart also plays a short scene about her travels, and makes the chest better: more gems, building materials, boosters and goods. Her orders pay with every order bonus you own, including events and the Order Board Boost.

The Exchange

The Exchange moved into the Town and works as before: daily deals, conversions and fish for goods. It opens once the Mine is restored. See the Mine & Blacksmith guide.

Key Maker

At Popularity 300 the Key Maker opens. Sanctuary tokens melt into brass, brass is forged into wood, iron and gold keys within weekly limits, and each key opens a matching chest (Crate, Coffer or Royal Chest) bought with coins. Every chest shows its contents up front plus one hidden bonus slot.

Museum

At Popularity 700 you can start donating one of every item in the game to the Valley’s collection, sorted into five wings: Fields & Gardens, Stable & Pasture, Workshop, Lake and Mine. Reaching 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent of a wing pays gems and a barn material, and a full wing earns a title. The Lake and Mine wings open with their buildings.

Charcoal Hut

The Charcoal Hut belongs to Old Brannoc, a gruff charcoal burner. At Popularity 1,200 and Level 52 it opens, and it burns wood into coal for the Refinery and the Blacksmith.

  • A load takes 10 wood and gives 4 coal and 1 resin. A day burn takes 4 hours.
  • During a day burn the kiln calls once, at a random moment in its first three hours. If you plug its glowing vents within 45 minutes, you get 1 extra coal per load. Missing it loses nothing.
  • A night burn takes 10 hours, gives 75% more coal and never calls.
  • You can rush a day burn with gems.
  • The more you burn in total, the more loads fit in a kiln (up to 5), at 75 burns a second kiln stands beside the first, and at 200 burns you earn the title Charcoal Master and a Little Kiln for your farm. Harvest Club members get one extra load.

The Glass Man’s story

Once the Wishing Well is open, Granny Wren and Old Brannoc tell the Town’s first story, “The Glass Man’s Third Wish”: twelve short picture-book chapters, at most one a day, each with two small tasks at different Places and one piece of a 12-part decoration set. At the end you choose a keepsake (a Glass Lantern for your farm, a Glass Frame for your avatar or a Glass Nameplate) and earn the title Friend of the Glass Man.

Your Farm Companion

At Level 37 a friendly spirit moves into your farm. It earns XP from your daily login, daily quests, Merrin’s orders and helping friends, and grows to Level 30. Send it out on tasks (4 hours at the start, over 11 at the top). A task costs coins up front, most of which come back along with a handful of items. Its Green Thumb trait gives a 0.5% chance of one extra crop per harvest, and 0.5% more per level up to 10%.

A calm order of play

Meet Merrin around Level 21, restore the Lake at Level 30 and the Mine at Level 40, and keep delivering orders, boats and trucks so that Popularity keeps rising on its own. Popularity only opens Places inside the Town; it never unlocks anything on your farm.
