TinyHarvest is a cozy farming game, and the first days are gentle on purpose. You plant, you harvest, you hand goods to customers, you level up, and every few levels something new opens. This guide walks you through that first stretch: what the tutorial teaches, how fields and crops work, which buildings come first, what unlocks at which level, and a short list of mistakes that trip up almost everybody once.
The short version
- Seeds are free. Plant every field again right after you harvest it.
- Orders first, selling second. The
Order Board pays clearly more than the barn.
- Keep every slot busy. Short timers while you play, long ones before you put the phone down.
- Buy fields early. The first extra fields cost only a few dozen coins.
- Keep gems for things you cannot get any other way, not for short waits.
- Watch the barn. When it is full you cannot harvest; deliver, sell extras or upgrade it.
Your first minutes
You start at Level 1 with 100 coins, 20 gems and six fields. A friendly Scarecrow guides you through the basics, and the tutorial does most of the heavy lifting:
- Harvest the ripe wheat on your first row. You can tap crops or swipe across them; there is a setting called Swipe to Plant & Harvest if you prefer one style over the other.
- Plant wheat again. Planting is free, always. Seeds never cost anything in this game.
- Speed up a growing crop with gems. The gems are a gift during the tutorial. Later, speeding something up costs about 1 gem per 10 minutes of waiting.
- Unlock a new field. The seventh field is the first one that costs coins (70 coins), and you pay once.
- Deliver your first orders. Two scripted orders ask for 4 wheat each, paying 40 and 60 coins, and they lift you straight to Level 2 and Level 3.
- Build the Mill for free and turn wheat into flour.
- Plant the Golden Seed. It ripens about 16 hours later and pays 300 coins and 10 gems, which makes it a nice reason to come back the next morning.
- Open the Today board and claim your first gift from the 30-day login calendar. Day 30 of that calendar is a golden Scarecrow statue for your farm plus 100 gems.
After the first order you can choose I’ll explore on my own and skip the rest of the tutorial. Nothing is lost, because every system also has a short guided intro when it unlocks later.
Tip: Turn on notifications when the game asks. Crops, crafts and animals all finish while you are away, and a nudge at the right moment is the easiest way to keep your farm busy.
Fields and crops
Your fields live on the Fields tab. You own six at the start and can buy more with coins, up to 120 fields. The early ones are very cheap and then climb steeply:
From the 36th field on, a single field costs 50,000 coins, and fields 81 to 120 cost 75,000 each. Buy fields steadily in the first days; each one is another row of free production.
| Field | Cost |
|---|---|
| 7th | 70 coins |
| 8th | 90 coins |
| 9th | 125 coins |
| 10th | 165 coins |
| 12th | 305 coins |
| 15th | 715 coins |
| 20th | 2,560 coins |
| 25th | 7,500 coins |
| 30th | 18,665 coins |
Every plant gives 2 items when you harvest it, and every harvest gives a little XP. The first crops open up like this:
| Crop | Unlocks | Grows in | XP per harvest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | 30 seconds | 2 | |
| Level 2 | 2 minutes | 2 | |
| Level 4 | 5 minutes | 3 | |
| Level 6 | 30 minutes | 3 | |
| Level 12 | 15 minutes | 4 | |
| Level 14 | 45 minutes | 4 | |
| Level 17 | 20 minutes | 6 |
Good to know: Up to and including Level 10, every crop needs only 60% of the growing time in the table. Wheat is ripe in about 18 seconds. Enjoy the quick loops while they last.
Crops sell for very little (wheat is 1 coin, corn 3). Their real value is as ingredients and as order items, so think of the field as the start of a production chain rather than a shop.
Orders: your main income and XP
The Order Board is open from the very beginning and holds nine orders: three main, four quick and two special ones. Special orders ask for more items and pay the most. An order lists what a customer wants and what it pays in coins and XP.
Deliver the goods and you are paid right away, and a fresh order takes the slot immediately. If an order is hopeless, you can trash it; that slot then waits 15 minutes before it refills.
Orders usually pay clearly more than the same goods would fetch at the barn. So the rule
of thumb is: deliver first, sell only the leftovers. You can read more about this in the
Trading & Orders guide.
Your first buildings
Buildings turn crops into goods worth much more. You build them on the Buildings tab, upgrades are instant and cost coins only, and each upgrade adds one more crafting slot (up to seven). Each slot works on one item at a time.
The first chain you meet is wheat to flour to bread: two
Wheat make one
Flour (8
minutes, sells for 13), and one Flour makes one
Bread (15
minutes, sells for 35). From Level 8 there is
Cornbread, made from Cornmeal, which doubles the
bread price. Animals work a little differently: they need feed from the Feed Mill before
they produce, which is covered in the
Animals & Feed guide. Everything about slots
and chains is in the
Crafting & Buildings guide.
| Building | Unlocks | Build cost | First recipes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 3 | Free | Flour, Cornmeal | |
| Level 5 | 500 coins | Bread, Cornbread | |
| Level 9 | 400 coins | Chicken Feed, Cow Feed | |
| Level 9 | 400 coins | Eggs | |
| Level 13 | 1,200 coins | Milk | |
| Level 16 | 1,600 coins | Carrot Soup, Mashed Potatoes | |
| Level 18 | 2,000 coins | Pork | |
| Level 19 | 2,000 coins | Egg Sandwich |
What unlocks early
Instead of opening a dozen things at once, the game spreads new systems out so that most levels bring one headline feature.
| Level | What opens |
|---|---|
| 2 | Carrot, |
| 3 | Mill and Flour |
| 4 | Corn, |
| 5 | Bakery, |
| 6 | Potato, |
| 7 | Daily events (a bonus that changes with the weekday) |
| 8 | Cornbread, the |
| 9 | Chicken Coop, Feed Mill |
| 10 | |
| 11 | |
| 12 | Pepper, |
| 13 | Cow Shed, Coops (teams of players) |
| 14 | Rice, |
| 15 | |
| 16 | Kitchen, |
| 17 | Onion, |
| 18 | Pigsty, |
| 19 | Breakfast Cart, |
You also get something every level: a coin stipend (it grows by 25 coins per level), a pack
of building materials every third level, and extra Barn space on every fifth level. The full
table lives on the
Level Unlocks page.
Starter Goals
Right after the tutorial a goals button appears. Starter Goals are eight small tasks for new farmers, all visible at once:
- Harvest 50 crops, fulfill 10 orders, craft 5 items, serve 3 visitors, plant 4 corn
- Build the Bakery
- Reach Level 5 and Level 8
Together they pay 1,400 coins, 31 gems and a little XP, including a bonus for finishing all of them. They are meant for new accounts, and they close if you pass Level 15 without having claimed any.
A simple daily rhythm
You do not need to sit in the game. A good early loop looks like this:
- Open the Today board and grab the free things: the login gift, Lucky Cards, and the Diamond Merchant’s gift once they unlock.
- Harvest, replant, and put every crafting slot to work before you put the phone down. Long timers are your friend overnight.
- Deliver what the Order Board asks for, and serve visitors. A visitor knocks roughly every seven minutes and only asks for things you already hold in your barn.
- Check the Daily Quests (from Level 6). Five simple quests a day fill a progress bar with prizes such as items, diamonds, coins and a rare building material.
Beginner mistakes to avoid
- Letting the barn fill up. The barn starts at 75 items. When it is full you cannot harvest or collect anything more. Deliver orders, sell extras, or upgrade the barn from the Upgrades tab (the first upgrade costs 425 coins plus a few building materials).
- Selling things an order needs. Check the Order Board before you sell a stack. You can also lock an item in your barn so it never gets sold by accident.
- Spending gems on tiny waits. Gems are precious, and 1 gem only buys 10 minutes. Save them for things you cannot get any other way.
- Forgetting to feed animals. A coop does not produce a second batch until you feed it again. One feed starts one batch.
- Trashing orders too quickly. A slot you trash is empty for 15 minutes, while an order you simply wait on stays put.
- Ignoring the long timers. Plant long crops and start long crafts right before bed, and short ones while you are actively playing.
Tip: Tap an item in your barn and use the Crafting Guide chip at the top of the sell sheet. It lists every unlocked recipe that uses the item, which is the quickest way to find out what a surplus is good for.
