Levels are the pace of the whole game. A new level opens recipes, buildings and features, and pays out a stipend of coins and goodies. This guide explains where XP comes from, how steep the curve gets, and which activities earn the most XP per hour at each stage.

How steep is the curve?

Every level needs a fixed amount of XP to reach the next one. The start is quick and then the numbers climb:

Going from to XP needed
Level 1 2 21
Level 5 6 150
Level 10 11 500
Level 15 16 1,900
Level 20 21 4,200
Level 30 31 11,500
Level 40 41 22,500
Level 50 51 36,500
Level 75 76 117,000
Level 100 101 198,250

In total you need about 1,549 XP to reach Level 10, 21,009 XP for Level 20, 94,609 for Level 30 and 544,609 for Level 50. The level cap is 500.

The curve is tuned so a new player reaches roughly Level 20 in about three days and Level 30 after about a week of regular play. After that, levels come slower, because systems start to stack and long timers take over.

Good to know: The first few levels are deliberately cheap. The tutorial orders even pay exactly the XP you are missing, so your first two level-ups are guaranteed.

Where XP comes from

Almost everything you do on the farm gives XP:

  • Harvesting. Every field you harvest pays its crop’s XP, from 2 for wheat to 60 for black truffle. Fast crops matter early. A wheat field gives 2 XP every 30 seconds (18 seconds up to Level 10), but later levels are too big for crops alone.
  • Crafting. You get the recipe’s XP when you collect the finished item. This is the biggest steady source from Level 3 onward. Early recipes pay roughly as much XP as the item’s sell price in coins: Bread gives 48 XP and sells for 35 coins. Late recipes pay a smaller share but have much bigger numbers.
  • Animals. Each collection from an animal building pays a flat XP amount, from 5 (Chicken Coop) up to 25 (Silkworm House), no matter how many items you collect.
  • Orders. Every order pays XP next to the coins. Special orders pay the most.
  • Visitors. Visitors pay an especially generous XP share compared with orders of similar coin value.
  • The Harbor boat and Truck. Boat crates and truck boxes pay XP, and finishing a boat gives a large completion bonus, so a full boat is worth a lot of XP.
  • Selling. Selling goods to the barn gives a little XP too: about one tenth of the coins you receive.
  • Starter Goals pay 90 XP in total for new accounts, and the Town’s Market Stall pays a flat amount of XP per round, the same at Level 8 as at Level 40.

Daily Quests do not give XP directly. They fill a progress bar of item, diamond and coin prizes.

Tip: Because crafting gives XP just for collecting, the fastest way to level is to keep every crafting slot busy, and then to hand the finished goods to orders and visitors for a second helping of XP.

Best XP per hour by level band

The tables list recipes with the highest XP per hour for one crafting slot (XP of the recipe divided by its craft time). Several slots work in parallel, so more slots simply multiply these numbers. Ingredient cost is not considered here, so check the Recipes table for what you need.

Orders and visitors: the second helping

Crafting only gets you started. When the goods you make are also what orders and visitors ask for, you earn XP twice.

  • Orders keep their XP share, which is higher for special orders. At Level 20 a typical special order is worth roughly 300 XP, and at Level 50 roughly 650, with the best ones far above that. The exact value is shown on every order card.
  • Visitors only ask for what you already hold in the barn, and pay a higher XP share per coin than orders do, so keeping a small stock of each product you make is a good habit.
  • A full boat pays its crates plus a large completion bonus in XP, and trucks pay XP per box.
  • The Order Board Boost upgrade (Level 29) adds 2% XP to every order per upgrade level, up to +20%.

Boosts and events

Temporary bonuses are where players level fastest.

  • XP Boost items give +25% XP for 1 or 2 hours. Level-ups hand out a boost every 12 levels, rotating between XP, craft speed, yield and coin boosts (you get an XP Boost at Levels 10, 12 and 60, for example), and truck deliveries can drop them too.
  • The Harvest Club membership adds +10% XP to everything.
  • Your Coop can switch on timed bonuses for all members, which can include XP.
  • Weekly events double XP on certain days: Order Rush Day on the Tuesdays that alternate with Lucky Catch Day, Grand Market Day on the last Tuesday of the month, Golden Guest Day (visitors) on the second Thursday of the month, and Harvest Festival Weekend on the first Saturday and Sunday of the month.
  • Temporary bonuses stack, but their total is capped at 2.5 times the base XP. A double-XP day plus an XP Boost still fits.

Tip: Plan your levelling day. Hold back finished goods for a double-XP orders day, start an XP Boost, and then deliver everything at once.

Daily helpers and rewards

  • Starter Goals pay 90 XP, 1,400 coins and 31 gems in total for new accounts. See Starter Guide.
  • Every level-up pays a coin stipend (100 plus 25 per level), and many levels add building materials, barn space, boosts, coupons or a crafting-slot voucher. Check the Level Unlocks page for what each level opens.
  • Farm Hands (Level 19) and the Animal Tender (Level 27) keep crops and animals running while you are away, so your slots never sit idle. You hire them with a Helper Potion or diamonds.

A simple levelling routine

  1. Start every crafting slot with the best XP/hour recipe you have unlocked, and the longest craft just before bed.
  2. Feed animals and collect from them whenever you pass by.
  3. Check orders and visitors. Deliver the goods you just made.
  4. Replant any empty field, especially fast crops while you are playing actively.
  5. Save boosts and big hand-ins for a double-XP day.
  6. Level up, spend the coins on more crafting slots, and repeat. More slots mean more XP per hour than any single trick.
