Crafting is the heart of TinyHarvest. Your fields and animals produce raw ingredients, and your production buildings turn them into goods that are worth far more: breads, soups, cheeses, textiles, perfumes, clocks and, in the end, whole monuments. This guide explains how buildings, slots and upgrades work, gives you a tour of the stations by level, and shows how to plan a production chain without running out of anything halfway.

How crafting works

A production building has one or more crafting slots, and each slot works on one item at a time.

  1. Open a building and tap a free slot.
  2. Pick a recipe. The ingredients leave your barn the moment you start.
  3. Wait for the timer. Many crafts take minutes, some take hours.
  4. Tap the finished item to collect it. Collecting pays the recipe’s XP and puts the product in your barn.

Good to know before you start:

  • The barn must have room. If it is full, you cannot collect or craft more until you sell, deliver or upgrade.
  • Speeding up costs gems, about 1 gem per 10 minutes left.
  • Cancelling a running craft gives back half of the ingredients (rounded down).
  • Long-press a recipe to craft several in one go, and use a long press to collect all finished crops or crafts at once.
  • If an ingredient is missing, the recipe picker can craft the missing parts first for you, as long as you own the buildings.
  • You can pin up to two recipes per station so your favorites sit at the top of the list.
  • Open any item in your barn and tap Crafting Guide to see which unlocked recipes use it.

Tip: Put long recipes into your slots before you go to bed and short ones when you are actively playing. A slot that is idle is the only real waste.

Slots and upgrades

Every building starts with one slot, and each upgrade adds one more, up to seven slots at building level 7. Upgrades are instant and cost coins only. The cost climbs from level to level.

Building Build cost Total upgrade cost (7 slots)
Mill Free 11,200
Bakery 500 20,200
Kitchen 1,600 47,400
Dairy 2,400 52,600
Cookhouse 3,900 88,150
Florist 35,000 338,500
Tea House 48,000 524,000

On top of the seven normal slots there are other ways to get more:

  • Premium slots. Each station can take up to two extra slots, bought with diamonds (40 for the first, 150 for the second) or with a Premium Slot Voucher. Level rewards hand out a voucher every 15 levels.
  • Harvest Club. Members get one more slot in every station on the farm.

If you can only afford one thing, buy slots for the building that makes your best recipe. More slots at a good recipe beat a single slot at a perfect one.

Making crafts faster

Several things shorten crafting time. They stack by multiplying.

  • Crafting Speed upgrade (Upgrades tab, Level 24): each upgrade level takes 3% off every craft, up to 30% at Level 10.
  • Craft Speed Boost items: crafts take 30% less time for 1 or 2 hours.
  • Craftsman Friday: every Friday crafting takes 10% less time. Relaxed Weekend (some Sundays) takes 5% off crops and crafting.
  • Coop perks and bonuses from your Coop.

A tour of the stations

You build every station on the Buildings tab. They unlock by level and, together, cover the whole game. This is the short version; the Buildings table has costs and every recipe.

Levels 101 and up: the endgame

From Level 101 to Level 196 there is a new building every few levels, 26 in all. Some are bigger versions of earlier stations (Grand Bakery, Fromagerie, Grand Hearth and Preserve Cellar wear a gold star badge to show it), and some bring new families of goods: Crêpe & Waffle House, Ice Cream Parlor, Porridge & Granola Bar, Pottery Studio, Sushi Bar (made from Lake fish), Bath House, Toymaker, Patisserie, Stone Oven Pizzeria, Tailor’s House, Cider & Mead House, Bookbinder, Banquet Hall, Observatory, Shipwright, Stonemason, Moonlit Greenhouse, Bell Foundry, Silversmith, Carousel Works, Grand Atelier and finally the Golden Harvest Hall at Level 196. The Glassworks (Level 105) and the Jewelry Atelier (Level 118) sit in the same range. Many of these recipes are enormous sinks for your crops and goods; the capstone Golden Sheaf takes 200 crops in a single recipe.

Stations away from the farm

Two stations live on the Lake screen instead of the farm: the Bait Shack and Fisher’s Kitchen. The Refinery and Blacksmith are Valley buildings. They have their own guides: Lake & Fishing and Mine & Blacksmith.

Planning a production chain

A recipe’s ingredients are usually products of other buildings. You get the best results by working backwards from the thing you want.

  1. Pick the target (say, a Cake).
  2. List its ingredients, and for each one ask: “Is this a crop, an animal good, or something I craft?”
  3. Repeat for every crafted ingredient until you reach crops, animal goods and gathered materials.
  4. Count how long each step takes, and start the slowest first.

Example: Cake

Cake (Bakery, Lv 22, 1 hour, sells for 180) needs 2 Flour, 1 Egg and 1 Butter.

  • 2 Flour from the Mill (8 minutes each, 2 Wheat each, so 4 Wheat)
  • 1 Egg from the Chicken Coop
  • 1 Butter from the Dairy (20 minutes, 1 Milk)
  • 1 Milk from the Cow Shed

Raw cost: 4 Wheat, 1 Egg and 1 Milk. If you run the two Flour in separate Mill slots and Butter in the Dairy at the same time, the intermediates are ready within 20 minutes and the Cake follows 60 minutes later.

Example: Polenta

Polenta (Kitchen, Lv 27, 1 h 30 min, sells for 320) takes 2 Cornmeal, 1 Cheese and 1 Butter.

  • 2 Cornmeal (10 minutes each, 2 Corn each)
  • 1 Cheese from 2 Milk (1 hour in the Dairy)
  • 1 Butter from 1 Milk

Raw cost: 4 Corn and 3 Milk, for a 320-coin dish. The long step is the Cheese, so start it first.

Example: Couture Gown (a deep chain)

Couture Gown (Silk Atelier, Lv 78, 6 hours, sells for 2,905) is one of the deepest chains of the mid-game:

  • 2 Silk Cloth, each 3 Silk Thread and 1 Cloth (5 hours each)
  • 2 Silk Ribbon, each 2 Silk Thread (30 minutes each)
  • 1 Lavender Oil (Oil Press)
  • The Cloth needs Thread (Spinning Wheel) and Wool Yarn

Raw needs: 10 Silk Thread, 8 Cotton, 6 Wool and 5 Wild Lavender, and about 20 slot-hours of work spread over four stations. Planning matters here: start the two long Silk Cloth crafts on separate slots first.

Good to know: The Cake chain is cheap and quick, the Gown chain is slow and rich. A good farm mixes both, using fast chains while you play and the long ones while you are away.

Planning tips

  • Keep a little stock of each intermediate (Flour, Butter, Thread). Visitors and orders ask for them too.
  • Use every kind of slot. Four slots in four different buildings can run a whole chain in parallel.
  • Check the barn first. A full barn blocks every collection.
  • Match crafts to orders. The Order Board and visitors ask for goods you can make; read them before you decide what to start.
  • Watch for double days. On some days, crops grow or crafts finish faster. See the weekly events in the Leveling Fast guide.
